Make Your Myth Taker Readathon TBR!

June is quickly approaching. Am I the only one excited for summer? No, I didn’t think so.

This June there is a new readathon taking place. It is called Make Your Myth Taker; it is hosted by booktuber Ashleigh at A Frolic Through Fiction and bookstagramer Charlotte at Bookmarks and Vlogging.

They have created this amazing readathon where you essentially create your own story.

First, you pick a character, either warrior, royal court, rogue, or a sorcerer, there are subgroups within those groups of more specialized characters. I should say that this is primarily a fantasy readathon and you must read the books in order of the prompts. At a certain point, your character crosses paths with another, here you have the choice to continue on with your first character or switch over. I will link you to their Google Drive as well as Ashleigh’s video that will make much more sense then I will.

Here is my story, my character is first a royal spy then she becomes an assassin. The story I came up with isn’t the most creative, but I like it. Her name is Scarlett her family has been the royal spies for this monarchy for generations, I like to call them the Olivia Pope of royal spies. After there is a raid on the castle that leaves everyone in Scarlett's family dead she wonders if this was a random attack or were they were targeted. No one knows that she is still alive, so she runs in an attempt to save her own life. She runs to her long-ago banished uncle. He takes her under his wing and trains her to become an assassin. They sets out to avenge the deaths of their family.

My prompts and books are:

A Book I Have Heard Good Things About:

For this, I picked Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I know this a fantasy readathon and this is Sci-Fi, but I am trying to read the books I already own, so I am bending the rules a little. Skyward is about a teenaged girl who longs to be a pilot. She is living on a plant that is being crushed, and the human race is almost driven to extinction. She finds the wreckage of an ancient ship, she decided to repair the ship, attend flight school, and most importantly persuade the machine to help her. Because the ship appears to have a soul.

A Book With Royal Colors On The Cover (Red, Gold, Purple):

For this one, I will be reading Scythe by Neal Shusterman. It has been on my TBR forever and I think its finally time to start this series. This book is about a world where no one dies anymore. There is no hunger, no disease, no war, or no misery. There is now a thing called scythes, they are the only ones who can end a life. They are commanded to do so as a form of population control. This book follows two scythe apprentices as they master the art of taking a life.

A Secret Book:

This one I can’t tell you what I will be reading for it. I have to keep it a secret until I post my wrap up. I can tell you there are two books in the running for this spot. It just depends on which one arrives in the mail first. And with everything going on and the mail in Canada being so backed up there might have to be a third book to take its place.

Quick Read:

I picked Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes for this prompt. I have read this one before but I never continued on with the series and now I want to, so I will be rereading this book. It is about three kingdoms where magic has been forgotten. Peace has reigned for centuries but now some unrest simmers again. It follows four characters the princess, the rebel, the sorceress, and the heir. It is the eve of a war and you must choose a side. I can’t wait to reread this book.
